Overview

Our service offers neuropsychological and neuropsychiatric assessment and treatment to children and adolescents with acquired brain injury, which may be as a result of traumatic brain injury, epilepsy, stroke, central nervous system infection, brain tumour, or medical conditions affecting the central nervous system function e.g. sickle cell,
thalasaemia renal and liver disorders.

We provide the young person and their family with a better understanding of the presenting problem as well as strategies that have been shown to improve cognitive, educational, emotional, behavioural and social difficulties. Comprehensive reports are provided to the referrer, families and to courts.

Developmental Neuropsychiatry and Neuropsychology Service (DNN)

The Acquired Brain Injury Service is a stream of our CAMHS DNN Service. The DNN sees young people who have, or might have, neurodevelopmental disorders like autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder or learning disability with additional mental health or behaviour problems, as well as young people with psychological problems associated with head injury, physical disability or genetic conditions. Our teams work together and refer between services as necessary. The DNN includes the following service streams:
