Overview

We provide assessment and management for young people with a learning disability and behavioural or mental health problems. Our service assesses young people with recognised learning disabilities (global developmental delay), and associated behavioural or mental health problems, including autism, ADHD, obsessive compulsive disorder, psychosis, depression, feeding disorders, offending behaviours and sleep disorders.

We offer advice on medication, neuropsychological functioning, behaviour management, educational placements and risk assessment, all in relation to learning disabilities.

We assess capacity and offer specialist assessment of parenting ability in patients with a learning disability.

We provide a range of training programmes, including half-day workshops, one-day master classes and short courses.

Developmental Neuropsychiatry and Neuropsychology Service (DNN)

The Acquired Brain Injury Service is a stream of our CAMHS DNN Service. The DNN sees young people who have, or might have, neurodevelopmental disorders like autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder or learning disability with additional mental health or behaviour problems, as well as young people with psychological problems associated with head injury, physical disability or genetic conditions. Our teams work together and refer between services as necessary. The DNN includes the following service streams:
