Overview

We offer assessment, interventions, consultation and second opinions about neuropsychiatric disorders. We have close links with other teams within SLaM and the Institute of Psychiatry, and have clinical and research expertise at an international level.

Our team specialises in disorders of attention, including ADHD, challenging behaviours (self-injury, severe aggression and defiant behaviour) in the context of a neuropsychiatric disorder, complex neuropsychiatric disorders, including the psychiatric complications of brain disorders and epilepsy, and genetic disorders including velo-cardio-facial syndrome.

We provide advice on neuropsychiatric medication, neuropsychological functioning, behaviour management and developing social and other skills.

Developmental Neuropsychiatry and Neuropsychology Service (DNN)

The Acquired Brain Injury Service is a stream of our CAMHS DNN Service. The DNN sees young people who have, or might have, neurodevelopmental disorders like autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder or learning disability with additional mental health or behaviour problems, as well as young people with psychological problems associated with head injury, physical disability or genetic conditions. Our teams work together and refer between services as necessary. The DNN includes the following service streams:
