SLaM psychologist interviewed for youth addiction film

5 May 2011
Dr Robert Hill, a consultant clinical psychologist within SLaM’s Addictions Service, has featured in two short films for young people on alcohol and drug addiction.
The films have been produced by TheSite.org, a support and guidance website for young people run by charity YouthNet. The first film deals with addiction, while the second looks at paths to recovery.
Dr Hill features heavily in each film, providing insight into his own experiences treating long-term drug and alcohol addicts. He provides advice on what to look out for, where to turn to for help, and how recovery works.
The short films also feature an actor reading out ‘David’s story’, an anonymous real-life case study on a former patient’s experience with the Bethlem Addiction Service.
Producers from TheSite.org travelled out to the Bethlem Royal Hospital to interview Dr Hill onsite.
TheSite.org aims to be the first place all young adults turn to when they need support and guidance through life. The website provides factsheets and articles on all the key issues facing young people including: sex and relationships; drinking and drugs; work and study; housing, legal and finances; and health and wellbeing. It is aimed at 16-24 year olds.
